Volunteers with a single mission.
The USS Telesforo Trinidad Commissioning Committee is an all-volunteer California 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation — formed to raise the funds and public awareness required to commission DDG-139 in a manner worthy of her namesake.
To honor Fireman Second Class Telesforo Trinidad by supporting the successful commissioning of DDG-139 into the United States Navy — and to preserve his legacy of valor, service, and Filipino American heritage for future generations.
A commissioning ceremony that reflects the enduring bond between the United States and the Filipino American community — and a ship whose story is told for every generation of American sailors who serve aboard her.
The Committee.
A community effort.
DDG-139 exists because a coalition carried the case for a name: Filipino American veterans' organizations, historians, and community advocates across the country pressed the argument for years, until the Secretary of the Navy ratified it on 19 May 2022. The Commissioning Committee publishes its formal partners with its own records — this page names no organization as a partner that the committee has not itself confirmed.
